It’s July 4th festivities time in the Rock Hill area! This year’s events will last for days and promise to be the best bunch of family-friendly activities yet. Grab a Coke as you head out the door to celebrate Independence Day.
Historic Brattonsville Independence Day Celebration
On Saturday, June 29th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., step back in time when you visit Historic Brattonsville. You’ll get a feel for the way they celebrated Independence Day in the 1850s, from food to games to hot air balloon launches.
Town of Sharon 4th of July Festival
After you visit the past, step back to the present in Sharon. From 6-9:30 p.m. on June 29th, enjoy some wares from the food and craft vendors as you listen to live music. Stick around for the fireworks show starting at 9:30.
Fort Mill Independence Day Celebration
Head to Fort Mill’s Walter Elisha Park on July 3rd from 6-9:30 for an evening of music, food, entertainment, and activities. Are you the Most Patriotic one around? Find out by joining in the contest at the Amphitheater Stage. The concert and ceremonies begin at 6:30 and will culminate in a 9:15 fireworks show.
4th of July All American Celebration
Tega Cay extends the festivities to a three day celebration. The events start with a parade at 9 a.m. on July 4th along Tega Cay Drive. At 4:30 p.m., the annual Lion’s Club Fish Fry kicks off, followed by the Mayor’s address. Around dark, Boom in the Cay will light the night sky with fireworks.
The fun continues on July 5th with the Flotilla Parade at 5 p.m. and the Carolina Show Ski Team show at 6:30.
The festival wraps up on July 6th with the Uncle Sam Jam concert from 6-10 p.m.
52nd Annual Firing of the Cannons
If all those fireworks shows haven’t given you enough boom, check out the Firing of the Cannons in Fort Mill. The guns will go off at 10 a.m. on Main Street.
Baxter Village’s 21st 4th of July Parade
As long as you’re there to hear the cannons, enjoy Fort Mill’s parade, with over 150 parade units! The run begins at 9:30 a.m.
City of York Annual 4th of July Celebration
Held at the York Middle School from 6:30-10 p.m., York’s festivities will include live music, food trucks, and, of course, fireworks.
July 4th Golf Cart Parade
Clover puts a fun spin on the parade with a golf cart extravaganza from 9-10 a.m. on July 4th. The three best decorated carts will be awarded prizes.
Lake Wylie’s Firework Show
The view of fireworks across open water is second to none. Here’s a list of the best places to view the show: The Buster Boyd Bridge (either the boat landing or by boat); Papa Doc’s Shore Club on outside deck; Rey Azteca deck at Lake Wylie Plaza; Lake Wylie Italian and Pizza on patio; Bagel Boat; or Long Cove Resort.
Rock Hill 4th of July Celebration
You’ll be able to spend the whole afternoon and evening of July 4th at Rock Hill’s events. Food will available from trucks or one of the many fine establishments around Old Town. Families can ride the rides, bounce in the inflatables, and listen to the music that will be going all day. Fireworks will begin after 9 p.m.
The Battle of Huck’s Defeat
OK, so this event takes place well after July 4th, but it’s certainly in the spirit of Independence Day. On July 13th and 14th, Historic Brattonsville will host the reenactments of the Battle of Huck’s Defeat and the Battle of Blackstock’s Plantation, two pivotal battles in the American Revolution. In addition to the reenactments, visitor will also enjoy tours and children’s activities and games.
