Summer is just around the corner and life is already heating up in Rock Hill. The weather should be great this month, perfect for popping open an ice-cold Coke and getting over to one of the many outdoor events taking place in and around Rock Hill during the month of May.
Pick-n-Flick
On Thursday May 4th starting at 6 p.m., you’ll have the opportunity to pick your own delicious strawberries at a discounted price. In addition to the fresh strawberries, the Pick-n-Flick event held at the Anne Springs Close Greenway Field Trial Barn will offer a wide variety of family-friendly activities and local vendors serving up some great food. The evening will end with a free movie showing at dusk. Pack a picnic blanket and plan to stay for the whole evening!
8th Annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival
The Pick-n-Flick event is just the beginning of the 8th Annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival. Held in Fort Mill, the Festival will run from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, May 5th and from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th. During the festival you’ll enjoy a pageant, a golf tournament, concerts, contests, and a car show. And, of course, you’ll want to pick up a couple of buckets of strawberries to make a few strawberry pies (the secret ingredient is Sprite!).
Fewell Park Summer Concert Series: Tony Adams
The Summer Concert Series will kick off on Tuesday, May 9th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a free concert by Tony Adams. The series will run from May through August on the second Tuesday of each month. Pack a basketful of your favorite picnic foods, including your favorite Coca-Cola products distributed by the Rock Hill Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Spread out your blanket and enjoy the show!
Glencairn BloomFest 2017
Glencairn Garden will be buzzing with garden-related activity on May 20-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Glencairn BloomFest 2017. On both Saturday and Sunday your family can enjoy plants, outdoor decorative items, art, pottery, baskets, and just about anything relating to gardening. In addition, the kids will love the variety of activities planned for National Kids to Parks Day. There’ll be games, books to read, and exhibits about plants and animals. While you’re there, be sure to explore the Children’s and Victory Gardens. Music and food will be available throughout the day.
