Cherry Coke Float for Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner in February, now is the time to start thinking about romantic gestures. Not every gift for your sweetheart needs to be grandiose or expensive. Often the most meaningful presents are the most simple. Since Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about celebrating love, perhaps the best gifts are the ones that just allow us to spend a little time alone with our significant other. What could be more wholesome and charmingly romantic than sharing a Cherry Coke Float? As you sit and sip together, you can count all the ways that you love one another. Get really into it and drink one Cherry Coke Float from two straws. Classic lovey-dovey!

For the Kiddos

This recipe works great for getting the kiddos into the Valentine’s Day spirit as well. Increase the amount of each ingredient. Serve kid-sized portions in smaller glasses, or let them indulge their sweet-tooth! Once the Cherry Coke Float has been sipped away, you won’t have all that Valentine’s Day candy lingering around the house.

Ingredients and Equipment (for 2)

1 pint vanilla ice cream

16 oz. Cherry Coke

2-4 maraschino cherries

2 fun/fancy glasses

milkshake straws

Directions

Chill the glasses and the Cherry Coke in the refrigerator for an hour or so before serving the Cherry Coke Floats.

Place one large scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of both glasses. Do not press the ice cream down into the glass.

Slowly pour the chilled Cherry Coke over the ice cream. Alternate between the two glasses to allow time for the foam to settle. If you get too much foam or the foam isn’t settling, scoop some out with a spoon.

Add one or two maraschino cherries to both glasses, more if you want a particularly cherry-rich drink. If you really want to crank up the cherry flavor, add a little bit of the maraschino cherry juice to the glasses.

Serve with wide milkshake straws. Drink slowly and sweetly while you talk to your Valentine. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day Cherry Coke Floats!
