Coca-Cola Fudge for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is upon us! Sure, you could go out and spend a small fortune on a fancy box of chocolates, but where’s the love? You’re better off making something from the heart: Coca-Cola Fudge.

A Brief History

Fudge first made its appearance in the United States in the 1800s. Refined sugar was becoming increasingly available, and people were looking for sweet treats that were easy to make at home. Since fudge requires no particularly expensive equipment, many households satisfied their sweet teeth with this simple confection

Coca-Cola Make It Even Easier

Already a simple, do-it-yourself recipe, fudge benefits greatly from the addition of Coke into the mix. The mixture takes on a richer color and the liquid smooths out into the ideal fudge-y texture.

Your Sweetheart Will Love Coca-Cola Fudge

Knowing that you have crafted this Coca-Cola Fudge with love, your Valentine will be just as sweet on you as they are on the fudge!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Coca-Cola
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 7 ounces marshmallow cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Lightly butter an 8” square pan. (You can also line the bottom and sides of the pan with a sheet of parchment paper instead of using butter.)

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the Coke, evaporated milk, butter, sugar, salt, and marshmallow cream. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Do not try to rush the process by using higher heat. Slow and steady is the key here.

Continue stirring as the mixture boils for 5 minutes.

Remove the mixture from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Stir in the chocolate a large spoonful at a time. Stir until the chocolate has melted completely and the mixture is completely smooth.

Pour the mixture into the prepared 8” pan. Smooth the top if necessary. Cool the fudge until completely set. Again, do not try to rush this step. The fudge should be completely cooled and set before you attempt to remove it from the pan.

Carefully remove the fudge from the pan. (Using parchment paper makes this step much easier.) Cut it into bite-sized squares. Watch your Valentine’s face light up. Enjoy your Coca-Cola Fudge.
