Game Day Coca-Cola Glazed Wings

A very important sporting event is coming up. People all over Rock Hill will be gathering to cheer on their team of choice. A big batch of these crowd-pleasing Coca-Cola Glazed Wings will satisfy even the most ravenous fan. Using an air fryer will eliminate the need for a pot of hot oil and makes clean up much easier. If you want to double or triple the recipe for a particularly large gathering, heat your oven to 200ºF and place the cooked wings on a pan to stay warm while you cook the next round of wings. It’s pretty easy to keep the wings going in the air fryer while the game is on, because you won’t need to tend hot oil on the stove.

Ingredients

For the wings

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split at joints, tips discarded
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Coca-Cola glaze

  • 1 cup Coca-Cola
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

Prepare the Wings

Pat the trimmed wings dry with a paper towel.

Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper.

Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook the wings at 400ºF for 20-22 minutes. Flip the wings half-way through.

When the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl or to a pan in the oven if you’re cooking more.

Prepare the Coca-Cola Glaze

While the wings are in the air fryer, prepare the Coca-Cola Glaze.

In a saucepan, combine Coca-Cola, ketchup, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry. Add it to the sauce, stirring continuously until the glaze thickens.

Coat the Wings

Place the fried wings in a large bowl. Avoid using plastic if the wings have just come out of the air fryer.

Pour the Coca-Cola glaze over the wings and toss until they are evenly coated.

Serve

Transfer the Coca-Cola Glazed Wings to a serving platter.

Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions for a pop of color and added flavor.
