Few desserts feel more like fall than apple cake. It’s simple, comforting, and just rustic enough to feel homemade in the best possible way. Apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and a tender cake crumb have been bringing people to the table for generations.
For this installment of Vintage Recipes Made Modern, we’re giving classic apple cake a flavorful update with Coca-Cola. The Coke adds moisture, a touch of caramel-like sweetness, and just enough acidity to help balance the richness of the cake. Paired with cinnamon and fresh apples, it creates a dessert that feels familiar, seasonal, and just a little unexpected.
This cake is perfect for fall gatherings, Sunday dinners, tailgates, potlucks, or any time you want a dessert that tastes like it came straight from grandma’s kitchen with a modern twist. Serve it plain, dust it with powdered sugar, or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra-special treat.
