If you live in the Rock Hill area, you’ll have your pick of February 2020 events. This short month (one day longer this Leap Year!) is still crammed full of concerts, shows, and gatherings of all descriptions. Here at the Rock Hill Coca-Cola Bottling Company, we like to stay involved in the community. That’s why we’re pleased to offer you a look at a few of the more interesting and perhaps unusual February 2020 events. Take in one or all of these offerings.
By Way of the Back Door
As part of the celebrations of Black History Month, Historic Brattonsville will be presenting By Way of the Back Door each Saturday during February. Through special guided tours, activities, and other programming, visitors will come to better understand the way of life of slaves on the plantation. The day will focus largely on food and culture and the ways those traditions are preserved today. The programs run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
2020 Polar Plunge
The 2020 Polar Plunge event benefits the Special Olympics. Register ahead of time and join the fun from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fort Mill’s Baxter Close YMCA. The costume contest will begin at 10:30, followed by lunch and then the Polar Plunge at noon.
Teachers’ Choice Youth Art Exhibition
The Rock Hill Coca-Cola Bottling Company is always proud to sponsor efforts of students in Rock Hill schools. The Teachers’ Choice Youth Art Exhibition at the Center for the Arts in Rock Hill will run from February 14th until March 15th. Student artwork from elementary, middle, and highschool students in Rock Hill School District #3 will be displayed. Come out and support these talented student artists.
Poetry in Motion—Ride Along with Poet Laureate Angelo Geter
The York County Library presents Poetry in Motion—Ride Along with Poet Laureate Angelo Geter on Saturday, February 15th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Board the bus for a 30 minute loop and listen as Geter shares his poetry. Back at the library, enjoy hot chocolate and poetry-themed activities. This all ages event will sharpen your language skills!
